Proposal released for new Hartsfield-Jackson international terminal ...
Feb 27/08
Plans for the new $1 billion-plus Maynard Jackson
International Terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International
Airport were unveiled Wednesday, revealing a glass wing design and
some radical upgrades. The 1.2 million-square-foot international
terminal will have 12 new international gates (16 domestic) and a
1,100-space parking facility when finished in 2011. Hartsfield-Jackson
will have a total of 40 international gates when the new terminal
comes online. In an interesting traffic twist, the first terminal
access to Hartsfield-Jackson via Interstate 75, the east side of the
airport, is part of the plan. It will link up with the main terminal
at Concourse E via underground train. The new international terminal
will also have a two-level roadway system and curb front to separate
departing and arriving vehicle traffic....

Storms Hammer Metro Atlanta ...
Feb 26/08
Monday morning's storms caused major damage and knocked
out power across metro Atlanta. Georgia Power spokeswoman Carol
Boatwright said the number of customers without power due to falling
trees and power lines had fallen to around 68,000 by late Tuesday
morning, with most outages in the metro Atlanta area. Boatright said
the high winds, lightning and rain felled trees that had roots damaged
by the drought. Boatwright said the utility may bring in crews from
other areas of the state that have not been as hard hit by the storm
to help restore power in metro Atlanta....

were able to reopen westbound Interstate 285 near the accident scene....

Feb 21/08
Traffic pacing on the Downtown Connector over the next
three weekends will likely result in heavy delays, the Georgia DOT is
warning. The pacing will take place as part of the 14th Street
Improvement project so that Georgia Power can relocate transmission
equipment over and on either side of the Downtown Connector. Atlanta
Police Department officers will pace traffic down to 20 mph for up to
15 minutes each hour, 10 times a day and heavy daytime traffic delays
are expected. Motorists are urged to use I-285, I-20 and other
alternate routes....
