A wandering pig tied up traffic on Interstate 75
in Cobb County Thursday morning as commuters slowed down to get a
look. Marietta Police spokesman Mark Bishop said the pig apparently
came off a small truck that was traveling southbound about 9:30 a.m.
Traffic was temporarily halted to rescue the pig, which sustained

News that a funding scheme might be developed
rather quickly for an Atlanta-to-Marietta commuter rail line, and for
an Atlanta-to-Lovejoy line as well, should be welcomed by advocates
for the long-envisioned Athens-to-Atlanta commuter rail line. At first
glance, the new focus on an Atlanta-Marietta line - which could, if
built, do much to relieve the often-jammed Interstate 75 corridor -
might seem to presage a dimming of the already limited focus on an

Repaving work was scheduled to resume Sunday
morning on Atlanta's Downtown Connector, promising another day of
possible delays for weekend motorists. The massive project kicked off
on Saturday, following two previous weekends in which bad weather
forced postponement. The work is scheduled to continue on weekends
through November. This weekend work was scheduled to start on a
five-mile stretch of northbound I-75/85 between University Avenue and

A repaving project for the main interstate
artery running through Atlanta is scheduled to start Saturday morning.
The so-called Downtown Connector where interstates 75 and 85 merge in
the city will have most lanes closed from 7 a.m. Saturday through 5
a.m. Monday. State Department of transportation officials say the
work, which will be done only on the weekends, will take 30 weeks or
more. The project has been delayed by rainy weather the last two
weekends. DOT officials say work was scheduled to begin Friday night

It must have been an unusual site: A baby zebra
eating grass near exit 201 on I-75 south of Atlanta. Folks from Noah's
Ark, an exotic animal rescue center in Locust Grove, came and picked
up the animal Tuesday. The young male zebra was severely injured,
probably falling off a truck or trailer and the was likely hit by

this weekend. Georgia Department of Transportation officials said
Friday the repaving project on the so-called Downtown Connector has
been postponed for a second weekend because of the weather forecast,
which calls for rain. The eight-month project will be done on Fridays
and will continue on the weekends on the road where Interstates 75 and
